May 8 - Day 4: Kakani to Kathmandu

We enjoyed a buffet breakfast at the resort....banana oatmeal, toast, omelet and potatoes.  Enough to fuel us for the ride home.  The departure time was set for 0900, but by 0830 most people were milling around their bikes, getting ready to go.  Our bags packed and loaded into the vehicle, and our bikes were carried down to the street level....and we were off.  Mostly all down hill back to Kathmandu.....but before we got back onto the dusty it was almost single track coming down....for about 4 km.  Although it was steep....and rough, I managed to stay on my bike.  Two of the guys walked a short distance and 4 others came off their bikes.  Stuart the cardiology nurse is the only one who drew blood.....just a small laceration with some road rash.  Most of the way down they found a little medical shop where the owner put on gloves and cleaned and dressed the wound.  Some added fun to our day!!!!!

The ride back into Kathmandu was just as exciting, and we managed quite well.  We checked into the hotel and prepared our bags for the flight tomorrow.  I will be getting some help to repackage my bike for the flight.
These are the boys preparing my bike for travel to Tibet.  After they boxed it up, the truck that's transporting all the rental bikes was still here.  I was told that they would only take the rental bikes on the truck, and those of us that brought our own bikes, they have to fly them to Lhasa, at a cost of $100 for the extra luggage.  So the boys just added my bike to the bikes getting transported to Lhasa via truck.  But shhhhh.....don't tell anyone!!!

There's a climbing wall right behind the hotel.  Too bad I don't have time to try it out!

Today is Canadian Stuart's 65th birthday....we celebrated with some cake!  Nice way to end the day.
