July 22 - Day 77 - Somewhere in Gaspésie- 102km, 1616m

This is where I am….small towns, most without a grocery store or restaurant

View of that small town from below

View of the same small town, but from above

Who decides on the name of the town….this one is a mouthful!!!  😂😂😂. Sorry it’s not a better resolution.

Well today was a big day- challenging with all the elevation gain.  I got up early again, and headed off to find some breakfast back in town.  The same restaurant as where I had dinner last night- yummy food with a small grocery store attached.

I knew today was going to be a long day, with all the steep hills, and I had the option of stopping after 60 km, or continuing on.  As you see I decided to continue on, but the last three hills were particularly challenging.  Most of the hills were inland today, surrounded by trees, so not the same opportunity for views as yesterday.

I was on the road by 0730, and I was so glad to have a west wind again….strong and gusty today.  When the wind is at my back, everything gets quiet.  The traffic was light early in the morning, so all I could hear was the sound of my tire rolling on the pavement, and the sound of my riding shorts brushing against my knees with every pedal stroke - whoosh whoosh.  So nice and peaceful- this is my favourite time.  This is exactly what I was picturing my ride was going to be….quiet mornings, wind at my back….and no hills!!!  And I have enjoyed this many times while cycling 😀

Although there weren’t as many views today, what I did get to see was breath taking.  The colour of the water keeps changing…light blue, white in the rain, indigo last night and today more of a royal blue-with whitecaps.

I pulled into a viewing area for a banana and muffin after a few hours of cycling…. I didn’t stay long because it was so windy.  I took photos of the town and the beach, then I went down and sat on the beach for a while.

Tomorrow I’m headed to the town of Gaspé which means that I’ll have gone all the way across the top, and will be headed west for a bit.  Thanks to everyone for the texts today…made the day more enjoyable 😀.  Also thanks for all the comments on the blog.  Love you all!!!  💕💕💕

You knocked off those hills with gusto Lucille. Keep at it. Can’t believe you are almost all the way around. Glad you decided to take this part in. Only time we will likely ever see that area so thanks so much for sharing all the pictures.
