July 2 - Day 57 - Wasaga Beach 126 km

Sunset at Wasaga Beach

Packing up my bike

Path today

Selfie at Georgian Bay.

This was a nice easy day.  I got up around 0500, and hit the road at 0630.  Despite the elevation gain that my GPS said I did, it was quite easy.  Narrow shoulders, but everyone gave me lots of room.

I got to Owen Sound and had a second breakfast there.  I was able to get off the main road, following smaller roads through town.  Some very steep hills here to get across town.  I try to get off the main road or highway going through town because the shoulder disappears and I have to ride on the sidewalk which isn’t great.

My first really nice views of Nottawasaga Bay was at Meaford.  I pulled into a park and took some photos.  Then continued on….it was getting quite warm and it was only 10am,  so I stopped to get something more to drink, filling my bottles as I left this morning with only one bottle half full.

I saw the Collingwood ski hill on the right, Stewart said he flew his hang glider there in a competition in1975!  It’s a high hill…not sure where the landing zone was….but it must have been quite exciting!

In collingwood, I wasn’t far from Wasaga Beach, but thought it was too early to stop.  I had lunch, while looking for a camping spot for tonight.  All I could find was something in Wasaga Beach, or something 98km farther. Too late in the day to do another 100km.  So I stayed put.  My GPS guided me to a trail, and off the highway without shoulders.  I had to navigate two traffic circles- with congested traffic….not easy but I managed!!!  Yeah 😀

I headed over to the beach….and it was packed with people.  So busy.  So I grabbed another bite to eat, and now back at my campsite getting ready for the night.  My neighbor who seems to be a permanent resident here is playing some good music.  When he found out what my name was, he played Kenny Rogers and Little Richard!!!!
