May 11, Day 5 part two!

  Maple Ridge!!!  Whoop Whoop 😀

Today was such a good day….I think I’m finding my stamina again….I could have kept on cycling for several more hours….but glad I stopped when I did….as camp is set up and I’ve showered….but it’s dark!  And I still need to eat my dinner that I purchased a few hours ago.  I got to the campsite, and once they realized that I was bike camping….they brought me to a totally different area, not part of the campsite, but I have grass to set up my tent.  So nice!!!

The ride was a bit of an adventure….i got totally turned around, wasted about an hour I think, and I had Lorraine on the phone giving me turn by turn directions.  Things were going well until I realized I was on the port man bridge….not the pedestrian area….but where the cars were.  Nothing I could do but continue.  I was almost off when the police showed up…..my saviour.  I don’t think he was expecting to find me when he received several calls of a cyclist on the bridge.  We had a nice chat….his wife is a nurse, and he’s a new officer, only 4 months on the job.  I wished him well in his career….and he escorted me to the off ramp.  😀

I’m not sure what tomorrow will bring….but less excitement would be great!!!!  I have some chicken souvlaki waiting….so that’s it for today.  Thanks for all the encouraging texts.  Oh…..I don’t think my ride after the ferry saved….apparently there was an error.  It was 70km for that leg, not counting the walking about 0.5 km nor hauling my bike up a no cycle trail!!!!  But I’m safe, warm, comfortable and I have food and I feel the love of family and friends.  Love the texts!!!  ❤️❤️❤️
