May 13 - Day 7 to Sunshine Valley

May 13 - day 7…..it’s been one week!!!  Agassiz to Sunshine valley 56.9 km and 860 m up.  Sunshine valley is half way between Hope and Manning park.

I hope it’s not getting old for you to hear….but I had a good day…a really good day.  A bit of rain last night meant that I packed up a wet tent this morning.  Barry and Lynn served me up a hot cup of tea, and some pleasant conversation before I headed out for breakfast.  I wasn’t hungry, but I forced myself to eat.  I made good time getting to Hope, mostly flat with two smallish hills.  Calm wind, and sunny but not too hot.  Goldilocks weather….it was just right!!!

In Hope I headed to subway, ordered a sandwich and a rice bowl, I wasn’t hungry to put it all in a small back pack and carried it.  Outside of Hope the hills started…broken down into three climbs with a small break between.  My Garmin tells me how much elevation, and the distance as well as a graphic that tells me the grade.  The third hill was 6 km long, 380 m up and mostly 7-8% grade.  I did take a break half way, and met up with three guys from Quebec who are planning on cycling back home.

We are all together in this campground, and it’s super windy here….I removed the poles from my tent and laid it flat as the wind was pushing it flat with the poles in.  The boys found a sheltered spot so we all moved.  So I’m all set up, I’ve eaten and I’m getting ready for bed.  I’m not sure what tomorrow will bring.  When I get to manning park I’ll decide if I’ll continue on to Princeton.  That will make for a super long day….and it might be windy again tomorrow.  So ….I’ll see how it goes…. I do have some options.  There are campgrounds along the way.  So goodnight everyone…. I plan on sleeping well and I’ll try for an early start tomorrow.

So nice that they warned others that I was around ‘slow vehicle’!!!!!  😂😂😂

You are doing great! If I remember correctly, there was a restaurant and cabins at manning park as well as a campground. Way longer climbs ahead, but then those long sweet downs!
I couldn’t eat breakfast either - just nerves for me and few kms under way, then all good. That got better after a while. I’m enjoying watching you! Oh the memories!

It will never get old hearing you gad a good day. Glad you found some kindred spirits on the road, too. Good luck with tomorrow’s ride!
