🤣🤣🤣

I had an amazing day…despite a challenging start.  But first an update on last night.  It rained while I was having dinner, so at the campground, I set up under the shelter.  Not long after the sky opened up…and it poured for about 30 min.  A woman and her two kids came to the shelter just before the deluge, and cooked a birthday dinner for her son….then we all had some cake after singing 😀

The campground was very basic, no shower, no running water, just an outhouse without any paper😳. I decided to change, so managed in the outhouse, without any hooks, and nothing touched the floor…. I was quite proud of my feat!!!  I washed mostly clothed at the marina, between two boat launch areas.  Clean!!!  Whew.

This morning I woke up at 0530 to fog….pea soup type fog.  I got dressed, packed up and headed to Tim Hortons for breakfast.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do….and just as I was getting ready to order a man struck up a conversation.  What was I doing, where did I start etc.  really interested, he even bought my first breakfast!  Very nice.  As I was eating another cyclist walked in, he’s going east to west.  We discussed the road, the hills, the lack of services…I wasn’t sure what to do….and I was a bit tearful.  Because it’s so isolated out here I was thinking of renting a UHaul and just driving to Sault Ste Marie and being done with the isolation, but the cyclist said the road is good, the hills aren’t bad and he was sure I could do it.  Ok…..so I had a second breakfast, with extra to go, and off I went.

I started at 0830, and already the fog was starting to lift, and by 1030 blue skies!!!!  Yippee!!!!  The lake was still foggy, but now I could see the vehicles and they could see me.  I didn’t feel in a rush today, so took as many stops as I wanted.  Stopped a few times for pictures, lunch was a banana and the three remaining oatmeal raisin cookies I bought in Fort Frances so long ago!  I stopped at a picnic area for more pictures….a short detour to some water falls.  Just a fantastic day, and I’m feeling really good, lots of energy.

I did a hard reset of my phone and that has fixed the live tracking.  Sorry, didn’t mean to worry anyone as I looked like I was stuck in the middle of nowhere for hours….but after a chat with my tech support (Ted), I think we fixed it!

I’m in a hotel tonight, as there aren’t any campgrounds near the town.  Laundry is done, dinner was amazing and all my stuff is dried out.  Another early start tomorrow to Marathon!  Thanks for all the texts and encouragement ❤️❤️❤️

Sending you hugs! You are teaching us so many important life lessons such as being flexible to your plan, trusting in yourself, and the kindness of strangers to name a few. We talk about your experiences together with life lessons as we follow along. "Pedal hard!" is our saying to you! Lots of love, Jasper, Josh, and Nafisa

Fantastic! It’s amazing how those kinds of encounters can just reset everything. I well know that feeling of teary indecision and once you are heading in the right direction, or something shifts, it can dissipate and you carry on!
Also seems like you are managing to eat more routinely vs. when you started, which must be a boost as well. Happy pedalling!

The best part of the trip is the people. Well, that and the fact you feel 20 years younger when you are done! You can see why I was thinking greyhound bus through this part. You can do it. Look how far you e come!

Well, a few days ago I needed to go….and I never carry paper as I hate seeing it in the bush….but found some moss that did the trick…. I had to take out the small twigs first 😂😂😂

Thanks!!!! I was thinking greyhound, UHaul, train and putting my thumb out, but I think I’ll be ok! One day at a time! 😀

Good for you for pushing through and continuing onwards! I am so happy to hear that you are having a lot of positive interactions with people along your travels. I mean…birthday cake? How nice! You are an inspiration to so many, and the number grows every time you make a connection to a new person. So awesome! I’m watching your progress and figuring out where I can meet up with Jo near the end of July to join up with you. 😊
Sending lots of love and hugs💞
