Woke up to beautiful sunny skies this morning. After heading down to the lake to enjoy the view and looking around, we all sat down to breakfast. A short lived rain storm delayed my departure….but just as quickly as it started, the sun came out again. I thought that would be all the moisture for the day but boy was I wrong!
There were a few sprinkles which turned into a full storm with thunder and lightning. I took shelter under a tree for about 45 min through the worst of it. When it was almost stopped I continued, but it was only a few km later that I caught up to it. I found shelter again at a school baseball diamond and the third time in a restaurant. The decided to find a room close by. I got back onto the p’tit train du nord pathway headed north for a few km….unfortunately this part of the path wasn’t paved, so the bike and bags got quite gritty and muddy. Once in the hotel I took everything off the bike….hung up the damp clothes, washed the bag, and rinsed off the bike outside. It has rained hard most of the day, which is great for the area. They have not seen any rain for almost two months, so a day long soaking rain will certainly help.
I’m running out of time to get to Quebec City and back, and I’m still uncertain what to do. The fir cast for the rest of my time here looks good for cycling….so tomorrow morning I’ll head out on the bike, and see how far I get. 😀
