Oct 14 - Montreal 66 km

A bit of a cool and windy start this morning….but it eventually warmed up in the afternoon when the sun finally came out.  I was on a path most of the day, and really enjoyed my last day of cycling….possibly for the year, the way the weather is looking in Edmonton!  No snow yet, but looks like it may not be too far away.  Although my good weather charm may just be following me home as the temps are going up for Wednesday!!!

Oct 11 - Trois Rivières

This morning I back tracked about 20 km to go have a look at the Fjord. The lady at the motel office said that that a short walk was necessary.  When I got to the information board…it said that it would be a 42km hike….one way!  That wasn’t going to happen today!

I did to a 6 km hike to see the sandy beach area.  Then I drove back to Tadoussac and saw the dunes.  A 10 min ferry ride across the water and I was off to Trois Rivières…..about 350 km drive, most of it near the St Lawerence.  Gorgeous views….but once again no place to stop to take the photos.

Laundry, dinner and an early tuck in for a long cycling day tomorrow.

Oct 10 - Tadoussac

I woke up early to frost!!!  I stayed in the tent until it had warmed up a bit…then quickly packed and cycled to Trois Rivières to pick up the rental car for a drive today. I took the front wheel off the bike and put it in a safe place while I loaded up the car….and forgot to put the wheel in and drove off.  Thankfully I was only about 30 min away when I realized, so back I went to pick it up!

So many beautiful views getting to Lac St Jean which is about 350km north west of Trois Rivières.  The lake is large and beautiful, and I was following Rivière St Maurice for the first half of the trip, so a nice twisty road that I will have to come back to do on the motorcycle 😀.  Unfortunately when driving I can’t just stop where I like to take a photo….so unfortunately I don’t have many photos again today.

I drove part way around the lake, as the full circuit would have been 250 km all the way around, and I still wanted to get a bit closer to Tadoussac which is the end of the Fjord.  Unfortunately it got dark as I was passing by, so no views….but apparently I have to get off the road for the views, so I will return tomorrow before heading south.

Oct 9 - near Trois Rivières 103 km

A bit of a long day of cycling….thankfully it was flat as I had a bit of a head wind.  The wind was chilly today so I had to ride the entire day with a jacket on.

I didn’t take many photos today as I was trying to get to the campground before it got too late.  The days are quite short right now….sunrise at 0730 and sunset at 2830, and it was so chilly this morning that I delayed in the coffee shop until it warmed up a bit.

I rode through a few towns today, one town - Louiseville had some type of festival.  Many stalls were set up and music was playing in the streets.  Unfortunately I didn’t take the time to find out what was going on.

I managed to set up my tent and get into the sleeping bag before dark which was my objective.  I’m wearing all my clothes, down jacket, toque and mittens to stay warm tonight.  This is the only really cold night, the next few nights will be quite a bit warmer so much more comfortable to camp.  Hard to believe that just a few days ago it was so warm at night that I couldn’t even get into my sleeping bag!  Certainly fall weather….and I’m so grateful for all the lovely weather that I’ve enjoyed. I’ll be picking up the rental car tomorrow morning….just need to pack up and cycle 12km.  I’ll have it for two days….enough time to visit some places that I wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. Should be fun.  Only a couple of photos today.
